The coins was an evidence that they were sought after and talented. It is also alleged that this was a way for the woman to show she was ready for marriage and that the coins on her scarf was part of her dowry. However, nobody knows if this is absolutely true.
Why use a hip scarf?
Regardless, a scarf is a decorative and necessary piece of clothing for those who practice oriental dance. The scarf should be tied around the hips with a knot. Usually on the side or front. Take care of your scarf
Please store your scarf with coins or other decorations in a bag to and from dance practice, so that it does not get tangled up and decorations break. Also, be careful not to wash a them in a washing machine. Some decoratio

ns may fall off, fade in color or break. If you can avoid hand washing. Instead, spray with alcohol and hang the scarf out to dry. This removes bacteria without damaging the decorations.
